Kgomotso Matseke   |  

Group Managing Director

Kgomotso served as the head of the Actis Africa Empowerment Fund (“AAEF”) a division of private equity firm Actis Africa Limited aimed at funding black-owned companies. He joined Actis in 2005 and was instrumental in the establishment of the AAEF.

Kgomotso has an average of 11 years of empowerment financing and significant emerging markets experience. He has extensive expertise in BEE transaction negotiation, restructuring, funding, managing investments across several industries including financial services, transport and logistics, mining, property, engineering, petrochemicals and infrastructure. Kgomotso was appointed as Group Managing Director with effect from 1 May 2010.

Executive Financial Director of the Kagiso Group

Joyce is the Group Financial Director of Kagiso Trust Investments ("KTI"). She joined KTI in January 2006. She was previously the Chief Financial Officer of the Development Bank of South Africa ("DBSA"). She has also spent a period of three and a half years in various roles at the Industrail Development Corporation ("IDC"), including Project Finance and Private Equity.

Joyce is a Chartered Accountant and completed articles with Arthur Andersen & Co. She serves on boards of a number of companies including Incwala Resources, Merafe Resources and INCA.

Afzal Patel   |  

Managing Director of Kagiso Ventures

Afzal Patel is currently the Managing Director of Kagiso Ventures (Pty) Limited and has over fifteen years’ experience in corporate finance, private equity and financial services.

Afzal obtained a BCom degree in 1990, and a B. Acc degree in 1991 from the University of the Witwatersrand and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1994 having served his articles with Deloitte & Touche.

Previously a director of Fusion Capital Corporate Finance, a division of Fusion Capital, a company listed on the JSE Securities Exchange, Afzal was involved in a diverse range of corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions activities, particularly in the field of black economic empowerment.

He joined the Kagiso Group in 2001, and is a director of a number of the investee companies in the Kagiso Ventures portfolio.

Peter Ford   |  

Executive: Resources

Peter holds a Bsc. Hons. in Mining and exploration geologist, as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from WITS Business School. He has 3 years strategy consulting experience with Andersen Consulting and 11 years investment banking experience with Standard Bank. Experience includes trading, financing and advising mining companies throughout Africa including Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa.

Litha Gcwabe   |  

Executive: Financial Services

Litha is a chartered accountant and an executive in the financial services cluster. He has over ten years’ corporate finance and due diligence experience with the IDC, Sasol Limited and Standard Bank. He joined the Kagiso Group in 2008.
